Abstract

The aim of the essay is to address the urban metabolism paradigm from the methodological perspective of complex and multidisciplinary systems, as binding instruments for the study and management of sustainability. The conclusion preliminary is that urban metabolism represents an example of the construction binding in the budding of complex and multidisciplinary models for the approach urgent of the energy transition of cities towards the mitigation of global climate change and environmental collapse prevailing in today's society.
