The book evaluates the effects of the economic development strategy based on export growth on Mexico's productive apparatus and its social and regional development. The author's central argument is that the current economic liberalization strategy is inducing a growing polarization within the Mexican economy. This polarization is reflected in three central areas: productive structure, social development and regional development. From the author's perspective, the changes occurring in the social, regional and productive spheres are not isolated since they have a common explanation: economic development based on export growth.
