One social phenomenon that still generates uncertainty and concern today is undoubtedly inflation. This concern is justified by the harmful effects that a process of price increases has on the purchasing power of families in general, especially those with low incomes. As a clear example of this, we can observe the results reported in the Guadalajara metropolitan area (ZMG), as a replica of those occurring in the national context. The indicators presented are the product of research that has been permanently carried out at the Center for Research in Economic Theory (CITEC) of the Department of Quantitative Methods, University Center for Economic and Administrative Sciences (CUCEA), University of Guadalajara, and correspond to the fourth two-month period of 2006.
