Based on the disparate results of the financial liberalization processes that were implemented practically throughout the Latin American region, it is clear that the diagnosis of the previous period of financial repression was either inadequate or that the strategy for implementing the reforms was not the appropriate one, This inadequate implementation, together with other deficiencies in the macroeconomic environment, led to crises of varying magnitude in a number of Latin American countries, which have left their financial systems in a difficult condition: the low savings rate and its deficient channeling to investment.
