Abstract

In recent years, the municipality of Guadalajara points to an economic vocation oriented to trade and services and the development of strategic sectors such as tourism, electronics and information technology, as well as the manufacture. These activities cause environmental impacts such as air pollution produced by the urban-industrial plants, an important vehicle fleet and the dust emission in semi-urban and rural peripheral áreas, increasingly deforested.
In this paper, levels of air pollution in Guadalajara are studied by comparing the observed values for each pollutant in Central and Oblatos monitor stations, according to the Official Mexican Standard and new guidelines proposed by the World Health
Organization in 2006 for concentration of pollutants and air quality guidelines. Information regarding Imecas values has been focused on quarterly average according to the seasons from 1996-2011.
