Abstract

This paper reviews the literature on the linkages between foreign direct investment (FDI) and the environment through different angles involving both aspects of economic reality. It also reviews some environmental policy instruments that governments implement in order to coordinate economic development and sustainability in the medium and long terms. Finally, we study the implications of implementing such environmental controls in the context of fdi through contemporary theoretical models.
