Abstract

In view of the urgency of finding alternative economic policy strategies for the country with a more decentralized and autonomous approach, which will redynamize economic growth and enhance the fruits of a more socially, sectorially and regionally balanced economic development, it is undoubtedly necessary to focus on policies that are centered on the regional and local level, and that consider micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as central actors.
In this line of thought, the paradigm of industrial districts, widely supported theoretically and empirically with a remarkable development and fruits in Italy and with minor achievements in other countries, especially in Europe, stands out.
In this context, it is useful to carry out a detailed analysis of the relevance and viability of industrial districts in view of the need for new approaches to regional policies, focusing on the territory, and to highlight the endogenous development potential they offer. The notion of industrial district serves as a territorial approach to industrial dynamics. Behind this, we find the resurgence of small enterprises as one of the basic axes in the accumulation process.
