Abstract

The economic and industrial development of Guanajuato’s state, and especially of Leon’s city, expressed in a concentration of population and means of production in the urban territory, which took as a consequence the strong expansion of this. In the period from 1960 to 1990 the housing of the social average and working grouping in this city was characterized by the high rates of lagging as for quality and quantity. Such situation not only reflects the habitual lacks in housing matters of these groupings, but the existence of a specially aggravated “shortage” that, nevertheless its growth in number and improvement throughout time, supported the inequality in the satis-faction of the needs of this good, which it remained and it even worsened along the studied lapse.
