Abstract

This article discusses the problems of rural development, based on agroindustrial development in the municipality of Tuxcacuesco, Jalisco. It was observed that the results of the jobs generated by agribusiness have not been reflected in a better standard of living for the population, and furthermore, despite the fact that agribusiness generates a great demand for labor, the companies are forced to bring it from other municipalities or states, due to low wages and poor working conditions. Despite the fact that 68% of the municipality is dedicated to the primary sector, and that it is one of the most important regions in the state for tomato production, it has not become a regional economic engine, and there is significant abandonment of productive land by farmers.
