De-growth is an ethical-political project, is a total and comprehensive approach ad-dressing the problems that the consumer society has produced and continues to pro-duce mainly but not solely, in the so-called developed countries. The radical response is de-growth: it means skip consumerism and in vent or rediscover a society based on voluntary self-limitation. The main principles behind the de-growth movement are found in the publications of the French economist Serge Latouche, who is one of its most prominent advocates. He has recently published a new book which draws some conclusions about the experiences of the first ten years of this movement and highlights the convergence with other schools and the contribution of precursors that feed on the same concerns. De-growth theory is not well known in Mexico.
