Abstract

This document contributes to the literature on the economy of tourism, taking up the theoretical bases of the two main branches of the economy; microeconomics and macroeconomics, to explain tourism markets in a complementary way. Initially, the document theoretically analyzes an accommodation market in a given destination, as well as the effect of the COVID-19 health contingency on said market. Subsequently, this theoretical analysis is complemented by contextualizing that market as part of the total economy and the macroeconomic historical series are analyzed for both the tourism sector and the Mexican economy, supporting us for said analysis in figures, tables, graphs, equations and descriptive statistics.
