Editorial Policy

I. OF THE MAGAZINE

  1. EXPRESIÓN ECONÓMICA has the character of a scientific journal and, as such, it is a means of publication of research works with high scientific rigor.
  2. The main task of EXPRESIÓN ECONÓMICA is to disseminate among the national and international academic and scientific society, as well as among the interested public, unpublished works resulting from theoretical or empirical scientific research on economic issues and related areas.
  3. EXPRESIÓN ECONÓMICA is published twice a year. The first semester corresponds to the period January-June and the issue corresponding to the second semester corresponds to the period July-December of a given year. The publication is edited by the Universidad de Guadalajara at the Centro Universitario de Ciencias Económico Administrativas and is the responsibility of the Economics Department of said university. It is fully financed by the University of Guadalajara.
  4. The journal's open access policy is guaranteed through the publication of full-text content through the OJS platform of articles that have passed the strict refereeing process. EXPRESIÓN ECONÓMICA does not charge any fees for submission, processing, editing and publication of files. APC (Article Processing Charges). We are committed to the free processing and publication of scientific articles. Therefore, we are part of DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals).
  5. EXPRESIÓN ECONÓMICA is governed by the NORMATIVITY, the code of ETHICS and the code of CONDUCT of the University of Guadalajara.

II. OF PUBLISHED ARTICLES

  1. EXPRESIÓN ECONÓMICA includes research articles, reviews, essays and current issues that address economic and related problems from different territorial scales (local, regional, national and international) and from different theoretical-methodological approaches. EXPRESIÓN ECONÓMICA publishes articles in Spanish and English.
  2. EXPRESIÓN ECONÓMICA will publish papers that meet the format and content requirements: the editorial committee will carry out the first review of the articles according to the guidelines established in the GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS, in addition to considering that they are in accordance with the thematic coverage of the journal, well structured, comply with the requirement of consistency and pass the plagiarism analysis test through the Ithenticate software and are approved in the opinion of two anonymous referees (PEER REVIEW) in areas of their specialty, assigned by the editorial committee; who will be responsible for refereeing the articles received based on the evaluation criteria of the journal.
  3. Candidates will be notified that their manuscript has passed the first filter (guidelines) and that it has been assigned to a peer review (double blind), in a maximum of 90 days they will be notified of the resolution in the corresponding format and what is the verdict of the referees, as well as their observations so that they can make modifications to the text if necessary.
  4. The thematic coverage is broad and includes all economic and related sub-disciplines. For the classification of articles in any of the subdisciplines, the Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) classification code will be used.
  5. Manuscripts in the process of evaluation and those accepted or published cannot be submitted to other evaluation processes. Papers to be published in the journal must be unpublished and not have been published in other journals or by other means. For this point, the author(s) of the papers must send (to expresioneconomica@cucea.udg.mx) the originality letter duly signed. The originality letter will indicate that the article submitted for evaluation is unpublished, product of scientific, theoretical or empirical research work.

III. EVALUATING REFEREES AND DOUBLE PEER REVIEW

  1. All articles are submitted to a DOUBLE PEER REVIEW to be approved or not for publication. For this purpose, a double-blind or peer review evaluation process is used. Referees receive a copy of the manuscript to be evaluated without the names of the author(s), anonymously.
  2. Referees must be specialists in their field, and may be from national or foreign institutions.
  3. Their functions are: to evaluate the articles based on the criteria of originality, quality of the article and its contribution to the field of study, to report on the evaluation based on the format that will be provided by the coordination.
  4. For their task, the referees will have an opinion form, which will contain the following sections: title, number for which the article is nominated. In the form, the referee must express his/her opinion on originality, quality and contribution to the advancement of the discipline, consistency and structure of the objectives, orientation of the line of argumentation towards the substantiation of the essential approaches, correspondence of the methodology with the objectives of the research and/or theoretical reflection, comments on the article, comments to the author. In addition, the decision taken, which may be: Publishable without modifications, Publishable with basic modifications, Publishable with basic modifications and some structural modifications, Evaluate and rewrite contents and submit to a next call for re-evaluation and, finally, Not publishable. Articles with an opinion of publishable without modifications issued by at least two referees will be scheduled for publication in the next available issue. In the case of the other sections, until the observations have been corrected, the articles will be scheduled for publication. In the event of an unpublishable report, it may not be resubmitted to Expresión Económica.
  5. Reviewers will receive anonymous manuscripts and must undertake to maintain the confidentiality of the information related to the manuscripts they evaluate and to make good use of them. Adhere to the code of ethics and conduct of the University of Guadalajara. To adhere at all times to the regulations of the University of Guadalajara and those specific to the CUCEA. Reviewers must evaluate the article with total adherence to objectivity and scientific criteria. Criticism of the articles should be constructive so that the authors have sufficient elements to improve the articles that were submitted to double-blind review. The ideas obtained through peer review should not be used to obtain personal and professional advantages. Reviewers who have a conflict of interest with any of the manuscripts should declare it and refrain from evaluating them.

 

IV. OF THE AUTHORS

  1. Authors submitting articles for possible publication in Expresión Económica must be the product of original work of novel scientific research and adhere to the ethics of publication.
  2. It is the responsibility of the authors that the manuscripts submitted for review have not been published or submitted for evaluation in another publication. The characteristics of a previously published work are the following:
  • When the full text has been published by any physical or electronic means in any language,
  • When several paragraphs of manuscripts previously published by at least one of the co-authors are part of the text submitted to the journal.
  • When the manuscript submitted to the journal has been previously published as part of the proceedings of a conference or academic event.
  1. Articles and documents should be properly cited and complete references should be provided, including the DOI, in APA format in the most recent version available. Citations to published works are made when the author has taken the ideas of other authors to support his/her research.
  2. Papers submitted to Expresión Económica will be reviewed by anti-plagiarism software. If PLAGIARISM is found, they will be immediately REJECTED.
  3. Authors may withdraw their work, if it is in their best interest, during the review process. Once approved for publication it CANNOT BE WITHDRAWN.
  4. Approved articles will be scheduled in the issues of Expresión Económica on a first-come, first-served basis.
  5. The author(s) will receive their evaluation opinion in the corresponding format within a maximum of 90 days after being notified that the article has been submitted to double-blind peer review. In case of a TIE in the decision of both referees, a third one will be appointed to give the final vote. This decision will be final.
  6. The author(s) will have 15 days to reply and send corrections to the observations made by the referees. If more time is required, the author(s) should notify the coordination by e-mail along with the arguments for needing more time. If you do not agree with the observations, you should send the coordination a free-format letter in which you respectfully and scientifically argue the reasons for doing so. The editorial and scientific committee or the director of the journal, after analyzing the arguments expressed in the letter, will determine the decision on how to proceed, whether to publish or not. This decision will be final.
  7. Those authors who consider that their curriculum and experience in an area of specialty is of quality and prestige, may send their CV to the coordination to be considered by the Editorial and Scientific Committee to be peer review referees in the future.
