Abstract

The aim of this work is to find out how information technologies have been introduced and are being used in a representative sample of small and medium sized companies in the footwear industry, located in the city of Guadalajara. The methodology used was that of a survey and some of the principle findings are that investment in acquiring information technologies is just beginning, that there is an under- use of software, and that the most used programs are for accounting and stock control.
